What's in a Spring Clean?

What can you get done in a three-hour spring clean?

During a regular clean, your cleaner usually takes care of the basics. Kitchens, bathrooms, floors, dusting etc. Essentially, the tasks that you would do yourself week to week to keep your place squeaky-clean.

A spring clean, however, is a little different. It’s a deeper clean, one you should do once or twice a year to make sure the house isn’t accumulating dust and dirt in hidden places.

Behind items of furniture there is often a build up of dust that can be much larger than expected. “What’s the problem with a bit of dust if nobody can see it?” Right? If it’s out of sight, it’s usually out of mind, but this dust still might still be damaging the health of you and your family.

What is dust? It’s a little bit like sausage: You don’t want to know what’s in it. But I’ll tell you anyway.

Most dust in a house has come from soil either tracked into the home or wafting in as airborne particles through doors and windows. The remainder of dust is an assortment of human and pet skin cells, pet fur, carpet fibres and kitchen grease. It can also contain nasties like dust mites that trigger allergies, as well as bacteria and fungi.

It’s not all bad news, however, as it has been shown that the most effective way of controlling dust is regular housekeeping. And what better way to do that than have somebody else clean it for you!

Other things that are worth having your cleaner look over during a spring-clean if you haven’t tackled these tasks in a while (or ever!):

  • The oven – a deep clean every few months will go along way to prevent your oven from producing smoke, as well as keep it heating your food evenly, reducing the risk of bacteria build-up in uncooked food.
  • Cleaning out cupboards and drawers – you’d be surprised to see how dirty the places are where you keep your food, crockery and cookware!
  • Bathroom tiles – scrub deep in between them to remove mould and dirt to make them shine again!

You get the point! There might be much more than 3 hours of work here, but a free 3 hours from a professional house cleaner will help enormously in getting your house cleaning in order.
