How DVA Cleaning Works in Melbourne
If you hold a DVA Gold Card or White Card and you’ve been assessed as needing help around the home, you may be eligible for funded house cleaning. There are two main DVA programmes that pay for cleaning services, and Excel Cleaning can support you under either one.
Veterans’ Home Care (VHC)
The most common path. VHC is designed to help veterans stay independent at home through regular, lower-intensity support — including domestic assistance like cleaning, laundry and changing linen. To access VHC, you contact a VHC Assessment Agency on 1800 555 254, who arranges an in-home assessment and approves your hours.
DVA Household Services
Available to veterans whose accepted service-related condition prevents them from doing housework. Eligibility is assessed under the MRCA or DRCA legislation, and the service is funded directly by DVA. Your Rehabilitation Coordinator or DVA case manager will help you apply.
Who this service is for
- Veterans with a DVA Gold Card or accepted White Card condition
- War widows and widowers receiving DVA support
- Carers of eligible veterans needing respite from household tasks
- Family members or coordinators arranging cleaning on a veteran’s behalf
